Having been vegetarian for quite a few years now there are a few things that I still crave and am on the constant search for meat-free alternatives to. One of those things is Jerky. There is something I miss about just grabbing some over-processed flavor bombs in strip form from the convenience store and just going to town. This craving usually only occurs on road trips, but it has been hitting me hard lately. I have had mushroom jerky and other soy jerky but most of the time it just ends up feeling like a dog treat that has been repackaged as vegetarian food. It’s slimy, comes in log form, and has some weird texture when chewed that just makes you question if you’ve been duped into eating old seasoned toilet paper.  Luckily recently I found out about Nobel Jerky from urbanibrands.

This stuff hits all the right spots. It tastes great, it’s shaped right, it’s packed full of flavor, and even chews what I faintly remember jerky chewing right. I legit had to check the packaging to make sure I did not fuck up and was eating turkey jerky or something. Which its for sure not because right on the front it says its “Vegan Jerky Végétalien” which Im going to assume means “vegan” in another language or that someone jumped the gun and got into Area 51 early. The Chipotle flavoring is present but not overwhelming and it also has a little kick to it which I’m a fan of. I for sure am interested in seeing what some of the other flavors are like (BBQ, Original, And Teriyaki). 

At $6.99 it does not break the bank and is priced around what I would expect to pay for some jerky and surprisingly comes with a good amount of strips. Nutrition wise its not the best but its not horrible from what I can tell and certainly does not seem any wilder than regular jerky (Disclaimer I have no idea what the fuck I’m talking about I am clearly not a nutritionist).
